A few weeks back I went home to Michigan for the weekend, and it just so happens that the National Asparagus Festival was taking place. Of course I had to check it out. In addition to the longest parade I’ve ever experienced, another highlight was the delicious beer-battered deep-fried asparagus. There was also an asparagus-themed film festival on Friday night that I missed, but I visited the website for Asparagus: The Movie, and I’ll most definitely be watching it as soon as I have the chance.

We dogsat Brad Pitt last weekend, and he was quite the hyper little guy. He tried his hardest to stay awake the entire 72 hours, but he couldn’t quite make it. Watch him doze.
My next Netflix arrival is going to be a documentary called Okie Noodling. It’s about Oklahoma yokels who catch giant catfish by using their forearms as bait. I’m sure it will be a masterpiece.
This weekend I watched Shattered Glass. Surprisingly great movie, and I had no idea Hayden Christensen can act. Further proof that George Lucas destroys everything he touches.
Lately I’ve been ingesting:
Talib Kweli “Eardrum”
Madlib “Beat Konducta Vol. 1-4″
Hot Fuzz
Heroes, Season 2
Sirius Satellite Radio
Stones Throw podcasts
Last.fm
I’m really liking last.fm lately. It’s filling me in on a lot of new music… I haven’t come across this many new artists since I belonged to the 313 Music List. For work it’s perfect: I type in an artist I like, and then I listen to the recommendation channel, which plays tracks by other related musicians. Very nice, and it never gets boring.
Along with a Carvel icecream cake, they gave me a guitar-shaped pinata to smash. Pretty much the best send-off I could ask for:
For a much better video set to the same music (Recloose – “Mana’s Bounce”) check out this Youtube video:
In an effort to add content to this site more often than once a year, I’m going to be writing here every now and again. Perhaps someone aside from me will read it, and perhaps not. We’ll begin with the last few months.
Aside from my job, I’ve been helping out with the Ghostbustour (ghostbustour.net) in my free time. Check out the site, and notice that I’ve been too lazy to write a bio.
I also moved from New York City down to Miami. It was a shock to my yogurty Northern physique, but I learned to adapt. As I write, I am ridiculously tan and covered with tacky gold jewelry. Yes, my tufty chest hair is exposed.
Estoy aprendiendo Espanol. I can almost listen to native speakers and break sentences down into individual words rather than hearing a string of gibberish. However, I still fall back on the old “smile and nod” trick a little too much.
In less than two months I’ll be a married Tom. Two months from today I’ll be married and on my honeymoon. I can’t WAIT.
So I have indeed been doing things…
