G.I. Joe + Stop-Motion + The Thing

I recently stumbled across this homage to John Carpenter’s film, “The Thing”, and was completely amazed by the quality of stop-motion animation accomplished with G.I. Joe action figures. Not only is the animation of the characters impressive, but also the set design. It hasn’t been long since I last saw “The Thing”, and some of these set pieces are dead on. The music’s another high point… creepy and building, a perfect complement to the subject matter. I like.

Asparagus Festival in 90 seconds

A few weeks back I went home to Michigan for the weekend, and it just so happens that the National Asparagus Festival was taking place. Of course I had to check it out. In addition to the longest parade I’ve ever experienced, another highlight was the delicious beer-battered deep-fried asparagus. There was also an asparagus-themed film festival on Friday night that I missed, but I visited the website for Asparagus: The Movie, and I’ll most definitely be watching it as soon as I have the chance.

Matt Chester – ‘Crater Crawlers’

Crater Crawler
It’s been a little while since a techno mix has really tickled my fancy the whole way through, but this mix from Matt Chester does the job. It’ll be a nice substitute this weekend while thinking of all the fun my friends in Detroit are having at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. More info below:

February Playlist

A quick mix of a few tracks: listen to it here. It’s close to 50/50 old and new material for me, with a slight skew to the old. I’m not too in the loop with new tunes these days, but I’m doing my best to remedy that. It’s quick, clocking in at 33 minutes, so give it a listen.

Tracklisting:
AmpLive – Videotapez feat. Del the Funky Homosapien
Matthew Dear – Death to Feelers
Recloose – Sampling Principle
3 Chairs – System Sauce
Slum Village – Fall in Love
Bullion – I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times
Bonobo – Noctuary (live session)
The Raconteurs – Call It A Day

Brad Pitt: Sleepy Dog

We dogsat Brad Pitt last weekend, and he was quite the hyper little guy. He tried his hardest to stay awake the entire 72 hours, but he couldn’t quite make it. Watch him doze.

My last day in NYC

Along with a Carvel icecream cake, they gave me a guitar-shaped pinata to smash. Pretty much the best send-off I could ask for:

For a much better video set to the same music (Recloose – “Mana’s Bounce”) check out this Youtube video:

Teddybears vs. Office

Teddybears vs. Xmas

It’s been a while, but I’m trying to get going with this again. Here’s something I made this week with Mike at work.
